You know, at Christmas, we hear phrases like “keep Christ in Christmas.” I think that is fantastic. Christmas is all about Jesus birth. But for some reason, the real meaning of Easter seems to get swept away even more than the real meaning of Christmas. Easter has become a celebration of spring rather than a celebration of Christ conquering the grave, rising from the dead… doing something that NO ONE has done or ever will do again! Many religious leaders have made their impact on history… but not one of them claimed to be savior of the world and certainly, not one of them died, rose again, and is still alive to this day. The significance of Easter is lost amongst the new dresses, dinners with family, Easter egg hunts, etc. I am not condemning these things. Please know that we celebrated with family, wore nice new things and hunted eggs, but first and most importantly, we talked with our children about Jesus and celebrated his death and resurrection. Just as an egg represents new life, Jesus death and resurrection offers new life to hopeless sinners. The Bible says, “the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.” He is the only way to heaven. Popular opinion does not change that fact. New age thinking says “you do whatever is best for you.” Jesus says, “I am the way, the truth, the life. No one gets to the Father but by me.”
Okay… with that said, the Dugdales did in fact, spend the day with family. We had a great meal with Gammy, Pops, Uncle David, Aunt Shannon and Rebecca. Buffets are dangerous places for pregnant women. I was quite full by the time we left!
